10 items to improve your living room! What is the best item your have ever found for your home at a cheaper price?

Here is a list of 10 items that will bring some fun to your living room. This is not for selling your home necessarily but just some fun ideas for living in your space and enjoying it! Taken from Lonny.com mag. I will give suggested places to find these things cheaper than what lonny.com suggests at the end of the post.

Storage Ottoman

A tufted storage ottoman like this one can do double duty as seating and organizer. The spacious storage compartment is perfect for keeping extra books and throw blankets out of sight, while the turned legs add decorative flair. Added bonus: Casters make it easy to move around.

Castered Tufted Storage Ottoman, starting at $399, from Ballard Designs

Tripod Stool

This tripod stool can easily be used as extra seating in the living room or as an end table next to an armchair or sofa. The industrial-style welded metal base caught our eye in particular, and we also like that it has a swivel seat.

Contact Stool, $129, from cb2

Chevron Rug

Anchor your sitting area with a bold chevron rug. Neutral-colored furnishings, such as a gray sofa or a white armchair, will immediately stand out against the zigzag pattern of the rug. We especially like the eye-catching Kelly green on this one.

Zig Zag Kelly Green Rug, $715, from Dwell Studio

Round Mirror

A round mirror with an attractive antiqued frame will command the eye. Hang one above the sofa or fireplace mantel to help reflect light and make your room appear larger. We like the bolt detailing around this mirror, which has a nautical-style look.

Crystal Base

Inject a dose of glamour into your living room with this lead crystal table lamp. The clear base makes it a versatile piece that can go with different furniture styles, and the rectangular shape gives it an extra bold look.

Madison Crystal Table Lamp, $349, from Room & Board

Lacquer Tray

Lacquer trays are immensely useful and effortlessly stylish. Random objects such as candles, vases, and bowls will instantly look organized in a tray, and shiny lacquer lends natural elegance. We also like that this hexagon tray has cutout handles, making it easy to transport from, say, a side table to an ottoman.

Lacquer Hexagon Tray, $175, from Jonathan Adler

Domed Terrarium

Bring the outdoors in with this domed terrarium. Not only are terrariums low-maintenance, the round shape of this one also makes for a sculptural accessory for the living room. For starters, try filling it with a few mini cacti, which are attractive and easy to manage.

Comfy Throw

Throw blankets make for perfect living room accents during those unexpectedly chilly evenings. We like this all-season cotton throw, which is as pretty neatly folded on a sofa as it is draped over an armchair.

Coastal Knit Throw, $128, fromGarnet Hill

Patterned Pillows

Last but not least, the easiest way to freshen up the look in your living room is to add colorful, patterned pillows. Designs like this hand-block medallion print can lend a globally inspired touch.

Blue Medallion Decorative Pillow, $115, from John Robshaw Textiles

Now here are a few suggested places to find these types of things for a better price.

Those are a few examples of finding these 10 items cheaper. Of course you can find all the items cheaper if you just look around. Some of my favorite places are Ikea, Target, Homegoods, Marshalls, Ross, TjMaxx and even online at places like Amazon and Overstock.

3 Staging Mistakes by OWNERS

THREE STAGING MISTAKES OWNERS MAKE!

#1  MISTAKE IS SIMPLY HAVING TOO MUCH STUFF IN THE HOUSE!

EVEN USEFUL STUFF IS STILL STUFF, EVEN EXPENSIVE STUFF IS STILL STUFF!
STUFF GETS IN THE WAY OF SPACE.  THE ONLY THING THAT WILL MAKE A SELLER MORE MONEY IS TO SHOW THE BUYER  MORE SPACE AND LOTS OF IT!
MOST HOMEOWNERS SURROUND THEMSELVES WITH ABOUT 1/3 MORE STUFF THAN THEY ACTUALLY EVER USE.  STUFF IS LITTLE ITEMS, BIG ITEMS, AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.
FOR STAGING TAKE AWAY 1/3 TO 1/2 OF FURNISHINGS IN THE HOUSE.  I HEAR YOU GASPING NOW!

#2 STAGING MISTAKE IS THE HOUSE LOOKS OUTDATED.
I didn't say you were outdated.  It is simply things that are outdated.  House Furnishings color and pattern change from year to year.

#3 STAGING MISTAKE IS KEEPING ROOMS TOO DARK.
Dark comes in paint colors, heavy curtains, no lamps.
Buyers who can't see won't remember anything other than some dark rooms.
